In this listing a splendid, solid and fascinating mid-format twin-lens reflex camera: the Ricoh Dia, manufactured in Japan by Riken Optical Industries Ltd. starting from 1955.
The lot presents itself in generally good vintage condition, with normal signs of use and storage consistent with the object's age and history, and it is complete with its original brown hard leather carrying case branded Ricoh and the distinctive original double objective cap.
Optics: The optical compartment consists of two original paired lenses: on top it carries the Rikenon 1:3.2 f=8cm viewing lens, while below it is equipped with the renowned Rikenon 1:3.5 f=8cm taking lens. The lenses appear in good overall visual condition, showing no surface scratches or traces of internal mold and fungi.
Mechanical: The lot has been tested and appears mechanically functional. The shutter responds correctly to the controls and fires regularly at the various adjustable speeds. The knurled side knob for manual film advance turns smoothly.
