The crowning achievement of Belgian steam locomotive construction is undoubtedly the mighty Pacifics from series 1. Between 1935 and 1938, 35 units were built, numbers 1.001 to 1.035. Their sturdy power could clearly be read from their successful exterior design. They were usually deployed for the heavy express trains on the Oostende - Brussels - Liège - Aachen route and on the steep route from Brussels via Arlon to Luxembourg City - and they ran with an average speed of 80 or even 100 km/h. With a power of 3,400 PSi, an axle load of 22 tons and a top speed of 120 km/h, they held, also internationally, a leading position.
With digital decoder mfx+ and extensive light and sound functions. Regulated high-power drive with flywheel in the boiler. Three driven axles. Anti-slip tires. Locomotive and tender largely made of metal. A smoke generator is standard installed. With the direction-changing headlight on loco and tender, as well as built-in smoke effects in conventional operation, digitally switchable. The emergency lighting on the smoke box door is separately digitally switchable. Moreover, the engineer’s cab lighting and the flickering fire in the firebox are separately digitally switchable. Lighting with maintenance-free warm-white and red LED lamps. Adjustable coupling mechanism between loco and tender. On the tender a speed-powered short coupling with NEM shaft. Minimum operable track radius 437.5 mm. Brake hoses, stylized screw couplings and signal holders are included. Length over buffers approx. 28.4 cm.
