Michelin - Bibendum - op statief - Bibendum pop

This original plastic Michelin Bibendum has ridden for many years with a professional driver across European roads. The general public knows it as the 'Michelin Man', the plump figure that has represented the MICHELIN brand since 1898. Its real name is Bibendum, or abbreviated ‘Bib’.

This famous Michelin mascot was chosen as the 'Icon of the Millennium' and is built from automobile tires. Bibendum was first designed in 1898 (original mascot see photo) and has, since its birth, for 120 years been the figurehead for Michelin and contributes to Michelin's success, the global leader in the tire industry.

Here we have a single seated Bibendum on a plastic adjustable stand. A vent/drain hole at the base for condensation and two screw holes at the rear, so it was probably mounted differently at some point, possibly for a truck.

No year is present, but it is probably about 50 years old, here and there some signs of use, but truly a collector’s item for enthusiasts.
