M. H & Co. Sheffield - Cutlery set - Silverplated

Victorian Cased Set of Silver-Plated Dessert Cutlery for Twelve​, M. H & Co. Sheffield, c.1860

The set contains 24 total pieces (12 table knives + 12 table forks).

The entire set is housed in a well-preserved vintage solid wood fitted case, lined with dark navy velvet inserts that cradle each utensil, and fitted with an original working latch.

The smooth polished silver-plated blades/tines are adorned with fine ​engraved floral and foliate patterns​. The handles are finished with classic repoussé embossed ornamentation, with delicate raised carving details at the handle terminals and edges.

Condition:
This set remains in very good antique condition: there is only very minor wear to the silver plating consistent with gentle age-appropriate use, plus minimal faint surface scratches, with no damage or repairs present.

Fork: 18cm in total length, 2cm in maximum handle width
