Up for auction, an exceptional, compact and prestigious portrait lens for the Leica reflex system: the Leitz Elmarit-R 90mm f/2.8, manufactured in Germany by the prestigious Leitz Wetzlar, dating from the late 1960s to the early 1970s.

The lot is presented in excellent overall condition and is complete with protective caps, its original-era rigid cardboard box and the characteristic cylindrical bell-shaped container in transparent plastic with a black screw base.

Optics: The glass elements are in excellent cosmetic condition, clean, transparent and completely free of surface scratches, hazing, or traces of mold and internal fungi. The identification inscriptions and factory marks engraved along the front inner ring are perfectly sharp, bright and legible. The blades of the internal manual aperture diaphragm are dry, snappy and totally free of oil residues.

Mechanical: The lot has been tested and is functioning. The knurled outer ring dedicated to manual focusing moves smoothly, steadily and without mechanical stiffness throughout its metric travel. The lower ring for manual selection of the diaphragm apertures responds precisely, with clearly defined detents.

Aesthetics: Excellent overall condition, as clearly documented by the photographs. The sturdy, heavy all-metal body painted in matte black preserves a beautiful visual impact.
