In this lot an extraordinary, rare and legendary folding medium-format twin-lens reflex camera: the Welta Perfekta, produced in Germany by Welta Kamera-Werk in Freital near Dresden between 1934 and 1937.
The lot is presented in good general condition, with normal signs of use and storage coherent with the age and prewar history of the object, and is complete with its prestigious original Carl Zeiss Jena optical assembly.
Optics: The optical assembly consists of two historical lenses dating from the era with a focal length of 7.5 cm: on the top it mounts the original viewing lens Weltaskop 1:3.8 f=7.5cm, while below it is equipped with the prestigious, renowned and very sharp taking lens Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 1:3.8 f=7.5cm. The lenses appear in good overall visual condition for a piece of this age and historical significance. The identifying inscriptions and factory marks impressed along the front barrels are sharp and perfectly legible.
Mechanics: The lot has been tested and is mechanically functioning. The central mechanical shutter Friedrich Deckel Compur operates smoothly and fires regularly at the various adjustable speeds.
