Description from the seller
exceptional and magnificent imposing West African money bracelet attributed to the Nuna/Gurunsi/Bobo culture.
A detailed description will be provided later, but for now, I am giving you an overview of the entire set of 24 object listings whose provenance remains exceptional, a scientific and primitive art treasure.
Discover among my 24 listings a unique historical ensemble, kept intact and preserved within my family for more than 70 years, because a former member of my family worked at the prestigious Bureau of Geological and Mineral Research (the BRGM) during the 1950s. These pieces are part of a remarkable field collection.
The collection is documented by its wooden transport crate with colonial inscriptions BRGM Natitingou-Dahomey, the former name of today’s Benin; it is also documented by an exceptional set of 26 geological maps with explanatory notes dating from surveys conducted between 1935 and 1961.
You will find among my 24 listings an exceptional King Manilla weighing more than 3.8 kg.
Each lot (24 in total) is a fragment of this historic geological expedition.
Magnificent and imposing money bracelet, a prestigious piece handmade using the lost-wax casting technique, making it a unique work of art.
It features a superb circular form adorned with a rich, finely chiselled geometric design.
Due to its very substantial weight of over 1 kg, this money bracelet was not intended for daily wear but served as a transaction currency, notably in traditional weddings.
Authentic collectible piece.
