In this lot a fossil fish of good size is put up for auction on a lithographic limestone plate of the species Diplomystus Dentatus.
The plate measures 8 cm high and 12.9 cm wide, the body of the fish measures 11 cm long.

Comes from Wyoming, from the famous deposits of the Green River Formation of the United States.
Diplomystus was a freshwater fish of medium to large size, capable of reaching 70 cm in length, being a generalist predator with a high mouth that inhabited near the surface to catch its prey; other fish such as Knightia, aquatic insects, crustaceans and any other prey smaller in size.
