Description from the seller
This volume brings together the issues of Femina parus in 1927, bound into a single tome.
Format 25 × 33 cm, 950-1000 pages
Femina was then addressed to the elegant Parisian woman. The magazine showcased the collections of the great fashion houses, fashionable vacation spots, and the sports practiced by high society.
Colored covers open each issue. Their geometric graphics and bold blocks of color bear the mark of Art Deco.
Inside, the layout alternates full-page color fashion plates, photographs of models, and illustrated reports. The reports take the reader to Cannes, St. Moritz, Deauville, and the Lido of Venice. Other pages deal with hairstyles, elegant sports, fashion in the rain, or Spanish ballet.
The advertisements form a second collection within the volume. Leather goods and luxury perfumery are prominent: Louis Vuitton with evening bags, city and sports bags, Hermès gloves, Bourjois, Parfums d'Isabey, Lait Innoxa. The automobile section occupies full pages with Delage, Renault, Studebaker Erskine, and Morris-Léon-Bollée. One also encounters Mirande sport-knitwear, Kelvinator refrigerators, the Deauville hotels, and the Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville for the New Year’s gifts.
Binding: half-cloth with a brown spine, gilt title and year on the back, marbled paper boards.
Condition: the marbled boards show scuffs and edge paper loss. Binding is solid, no page is detached. Some pages have creases, visible in certain photos. The colors of the plates remain vivid. See the photos, which are part of the description.
