Pleuroceras sp., an ammonite specimen from Germany, dating to the Unterjura’s Upper Pliensbachian (about 185 million years ago), pyritised with a natural shell preservation, authenticated as original.
Description from the seller
Naturally preserved, pyritized ammonite of the genus Pleuroceras from Buttenheim in Upper Franconia, Bavaria.
The fossil originates from the upper Pliensbachian of the Early Jurassic and is about 185 million years old.
Particularly attractive is the natural metallic gold- to bronze-colored pyritization. The strong ribbing as well as several inner whorls are clearly visible on both sides. Small sandstone, shell, and pyrite remnants were left on the fossil.
On the ammonite there is a pyritized shell and a further small ammonite.
