French 5 Francs Napoléon III coin, struck in 1867 at the Strasbourg mint, identifiable by the workshop letter BB.
Obverse, portrait of Napoleon III with laurel head facing left, surrounded by the legend “NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR”. Signature BARRE beneath the portrait.
Reverse, the French imperial arms: crowned eagle on the imperial mantle, with crossed sceptre and Hand of Justice. Inscription “EMPIRE FRANÇAIS”, denomination 5 F. and year 1867.
Coin made of 900‰ silver, with a theoretical weight of 25 g and a diameter of about 37 mm.
The specimen shows wear and fine circulation marks consistent with its age, while retaining clearly legible details on the portrait and the imperial arms.
