Description from the seller
Three bottles from Prunotto’s historic Bussia holdings — Barolo Bussia Vigna Colonnello Riserva 2016, Barolo Bussia 2017 and Barolo Bussia 2019 — from one of Barolo’s most storied estates with the deepest historical roots in the Bussia cru of Monforte d’Alba. Prunotto has a unique and historic relationship with Bussia — they were the first producer to bottle Bussia as a single-vineyard wine, back in 1961. Today the estate’s Bussia holdings include the prized Vigna Colonnello — a single hectare of exceptional terroir where Tortonian and Serravallian soils meet, named after a Napoleonic colonel who retired here after battle. The Colonnello is produced only in the finest vintages as a Riserva. The Bussia Vigna Colonnello Riserva 2016 — from Barolo’s most celebrated recent vintage — delivers black cherries, plums, balsamic hints, roses and wild flowers on the nose; elegant and refined on the palate with supple polished tannins and excellent freshness. Rated 92/100. The Barolo Bussia 2017 shows bright and approachable fruit-forward character — strawberry, raspberry, dried rose and woodland berry with bold tannin and dimensional structure. Rated 90/100. The Barolo Bussia 2019, from a challenging but rewarding vintage, offers complex aromas of red cherries, violets and licorice — velvety tannins, full-bodied palate and integrated refreshing acidity. Rated 92/100. All three bottles in perfect condition — intact labels and capsules, top fill level. Stored in a professional temperature-controlled cellar.
