Hand fan - Silk, Bone, Wood - The Belle Époque

Elegant antique European fan, dating from the late 19th century, preserved in an attractive gilded wooden fan case with a red velvet background and glass protection. The scene features delicate hand-painted decoration, with feminine figures among flowering branches and vegetal motifs in soft pastel tones. The composition, Romantic and historicist in inspiration, recalls the Rococo taste revived during the second half of the 19th century. Notably, its elaborately pierced and carved mount stands out, enriched with gilded decoration and floral and ornamental motifs. Based on its appearance and characteristics, the material of the ribs seems to be organic, probably bone. The piece preserves the charm typical of a collectible item with considerable antiquity.
