Candleholder - Bronze - Richly decorated candle

Richly decorated candelabrum – Louis XV / neorococo – presumably bronze – France – circa 1900-1930
A particularly decorative two-armed candelabrum in French Louis XV and neoclassical rococo style, probably dating from the early 20th century.

The piece is very richly worked with rocaille and shell motifs, acanthus leaves, scrolls and gracefully curved arms. The broad three-piece base is fully adorned with relief decoration and rests on beautifully formed rocaille feet.

centrally there is a tall, elaborately ornamented structure. Between the two candle arms an attractive openwork ornament with a shell motif is applied.

On the front there is an old engraved inscription/signature. It is partly difficult to read and is therefore not attributed with certainty to a specific maker. The inscription is clearly shown in the detail photos.

The underside shows the hollow cast construction and screwed mounting well. The metal has a beautiful gold-bronze patina with dark nuances in the recessed ornaments, making the relief stand out particularly well.

The candelabrum is in good antique condition, with age and usage marks, patina, slight discolorations and wear appropriate to its age. Not recently polished, preserving the old character.
