Chinese export silver overlay flacon – green glass bottle with dragons, circa 1900–1930
Elegant Chinese export-silver overlay flacon of deep green glass, richly decorated with openwork and relief dragons amid clouds. The globular bottle has a short neck with a silver mount and a stopper with a green glass disc and a small crown-shaped knob. On the side a smooth silver medallion with the marks SB 190 and a six-pointed star – typical of Chinese export silver of about 85% silver.
With a height of 12 cm, this is somewhat larger than the usual small scent bottles. Weight 223 grams.
The glass is in excellent condition. The stopper is in good condition; the cork is split in two.
A beautiful and decorative example of early-20th-century Chinese export ware, made for the Western market.
