STORIA / PANORAMA
The Mercedes-Benz 560 SL belongs to the famous R107 series, one of the longest-running and best-loved roadsters in the history of the Stuttgart brand. Introduced in the late seventies, the 560 SL represents one of the most powerful versions in the range, equipped with a refined 5.6-liter V8 engine.
The unit offered at auction is a 1986 model and preserves a particularly interesting configuration, with the original Signal Red color, largely factory-original bodywork, black soft top, and the original color-matched hardtop, plus a clean, accident-free history from day one. It is also already homologated with German European documents and equipped with its technical certificate (equivalent to a COC).
EXTERIOR
The bodywork largely retains the factory-original paint in the sought-after Signal Red color. The car still presents in good overall condition, with a beautiful patina of a vehicle that has never been fully restored but well preserved. The chrome trims are in excellent condition, as are the front grille, rubber profiles, and all original details. Only minimal signs of aging and small imperfections are present, some color variations, all compatible with the age and preservation of the original paint. The factory-original soft top opens easily and shows only minor, mild signs of aging. The car also includes the rare color-matched hardtop. An ultrasonic thickness test yielded values consistent with the original paint and no signs of any impact detected.
The undercarriage presents as solid and very well preserved, with no signs of accidents, thanks to its initial life in Southern California.
INTERIOR
The cabin is complete with leather seats and well preserved with a beautiful uniform patina over time. The dashboard is in nice condition, showing the typical cracks due to age; the center console and all interior equipment are well preserved with minimal signs from normal use. The dash retains the original instrumentation, as well as the original steering wheel and gearknob.
Before going on sale, a thorough sanitization of the entire cabin was carried out.
MECHANICS
The original engine was recently restarted after a long idle period in a private collection, including a fuel line overhaul and a service of the K Jetronic fuel injection, as well as a new battery. Previously, it had undergone regular maintenance intervals as noted in the service book; the clutch and automatic transmission also function normally. The German technical inspection (TÜV) expired in 2010.
The car is operational; however, as with any classic vehicle, a usual pre-use check or a long trip check is always recommended.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
