Excellent, pyritized ammonite of the genus Pleuroceras solare (PHILLIPS, 1829) in natural matrix from the famous marl beds of Le Clapier (Aveyron, Occitanie, France).
The piece is characterized by its beautiful, metallic-gold pyrite luster and the exquisitely defined sculpture. The robust ribs on the flanks and the characteristic, braided keel of the Amaltheidae are excellently preserved and prominently emerge from the gray marl host rock.
Localities such as Le Clapier in the Aveyron department are worldwide among collectors known for their aesthetic, finely pyritized Jurassic fossils.
