The Asahi Pentax SL (1968) is the meterless version of the celebrated Spotmatic — mechanically identical but without the TTL metering circuitry, making it lighter, simpler and entirely battery-free. Beautifully built with the same smooth operation as the Spotmatic, it uses the universal M42 screw mount. It is offered here with the Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 55mm f/1.8, a sharp and characterful standard lens.

The SL has no light meter and needs no battery; use a hand-held meter or the Sunny-16 rule.
