The Ricoh Auto Half EF2 belongs to the charming family of half-frame cameras Ricoh began in 1960, distinguished by a clockwork spring motor that advances the film automatically after every shot. Recording two images on each frame of 35mm film, it yields around 72 pictures from a 36-exposure roll, with automatic exposure and a fixed-focus Ricoh 25mm f/2.8 lens. The EF2 is a late member of the family with a built-in electronic flash.

Important — please read carefully:
Overexposure of about 3 stops in bright light, a slow-charging flash without a working charge lamp, and fungus in the lens and viewfinder. Please review the photos and consider this before bidding.

Pre-owned, functional but has noticeable flaws (optics/appearance)

Appearance
Scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details.

Optical Condition
Finder: Fungus in the viewfinder; it could not be cleaned internally.
Lens / Sensor: A little fungus in the lens. See photos.

Functional
The spring-motor film advance, shutter and automatic exposure work. The meter reads about 3 stops bright in bright light (+1.5 EV at EV12, +3.2 EV at EV15) — see Known Issues.
The flash fires, but it is slow to charge and the charge lamp does not light.
The light seals have been replaced.

Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 1.5 OVER / EV15: 3.2 OVER
Some of these deviations exceed what negative film can absorb — please read the Known Issues section and allow for them when shooting.

Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Light seals (foam) replaced

Known Issues
1. In bright light the automatic exposure reads about 3 stops bright and will overexpose.
2. The flash is slow to charge and the charge lamp does not light.
3. A little fungus in the lens.
4. Fungus in the viewfinder that could not be cleaned.

Shipping
We ship via either FedEx or Japan Post (ePacket), whichever suits the destination and the parcel. With Japan Post your package is handed over to the local postal carrier in your country for final delivery.
