Antique Russian silver Vodka Cup (Charka)
DESCRIPTION:
Offered is a rare, authentic Russian silver miniature cup, also known as a Charka (vodka cup), originating from the late Tsarist era of the Russian Empire.
This elegant piece is crafted in a clean, early modernist style that beautifully reflects the transition between late Jugendstil and early Art Deco.
The cup features a sleek conical form with a geometrically designed, linear handle. On the front (gilded) there is a refined, engraved decoration.
Features and Hallmarks:
Silver content: Marked with the numeral 84 (84 zolotniks), indicating a high-quality silver content of 87.5% pure silver (.875).
Master mark: Recursively stamped with the Cyrillic initials AC (Latin transliteration: A.S.), most likely attributed to the renowned silver craftsman Alexander Skvortsov (Александр Скворцов) from Moscow, whose workshop was famed for fine china and silverware up to 1917.
