Olympia SM7 - Typewriter - 1960-1970

The Olympia SM7, produced in West Germany, is highly prized by collectors and typists for its exceptional mechanical precision and rugged build quality. Often called the 'Mercedes' of typewriters, the SM7 is celebrated for its smooth and responsive key action and reliable engineering. This unit features a QWERTZ keyboard layout, common among European models. Its historical significance lies in the golden age of portable typewriters during the 1960s, a period when Olympia set the industry standard for durability and design. Collectors find these machines attractive due to their mid-century modern aesthetic and their continued functionality as practical writing tools. Market value is determined by the machine’s cosmetic condition, the presence of the original case, and the working state of the mechanical components. The machine is fully functional. No operational problems.
