One hand‑carved solid Tek chair of the Baoulé people from Ivory Coast, in Mid‑Century Modern style (circa 1970–1980), the Palaver/Baoulé model with elephant and palm motifs on the backrest, dismantlable into two parts with a seat sliding on a dowel, height 84 cm, width 40 cm, depth 87 cm, seat height 34 cm, weight about 9.2 kg, originally sourced from Ivory Coast and crafted from Tek wood.

African Baoulé chair (Baoulé people of the Ivory Coast). In Europe, especially in France and in the French African colonies, these chairs were commonly called 'chaise palaver', i.e., conference chairs, but also 'birthing chairs' for the exceptionally comfortable seating position. It is entirely made of solid teak wood and features splendid hand-carved details on the front of the backrest depicting an elephant with its trunk raised upward and a palm tree. It can be disassembled into two parts: the second piece is the seat, which slides through a dowel at the lower part of the backrest to rest on the ground and balance the chair.
