1912 French-language chromolithographed papal blessing with an original photograph, titled Belle bénédiction avec signature autographe, signed by Saint Pie X (Pius P.P. X) and framed, a single item measuring about 330×185 mm (image) in a frame of about 365×215 mm.
Description from the seller
Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto, who became pope under the name Pius X (1835-1914), canonized in 1954, Saint Pius X.
Document with autograph signature.
Approximately 330*185mm, frame about 365*215mm.
Beautiful papal blessing, with chromolithographic impression and an original photograph. These blessings are very classic at the beginning of the 20th century, and this one is printed by Alessandro Marzi, a famous printer and chromolithographer from Rome in the early 20th century.
Marzi printed very similar versions of these blessings in all languages. Here in Italian, with the formula "Beatissimo Padre" (the French version bears "Très Saint Père"). Each pilgrim could thus buy his version in his own language and fill (or have filled) the lines.
Pius X signs "Pius P.P. X" for Pius Pastor Pontifex X.
The provenance is a couple of Italians, Pietro and Emilia Falorni, from Fucecchio, a small town near Florence in Italy. It should be noted that the famous porn actress Manuela Falorni (born in 1959) hails from the same town. Perhaps there is a link? Given the dates, these could be the grandparents of this celebrity.
Under the frame, perhaps slightly later (a date 1937 on the back).
Small stains (we did not dissassemble), slight wear to the frame, small losses to the photograph.
Very beautiful document, uncommon.
