You're bidding on three books by Dirk Alvermann.
Dirk Alvermann (German, 1937–2013) was a photographer, filmmaker, and writer known for his politically engaged documentary photography. Born in Düsseldorf, Alvermann began producing photographic reportages in the 1950s, focusing on working-class life, political movements, and the social realities of postwar Europe and North Africa. His early projects took him to Spain, Algeria, West Germany, Italy, and England, combining direct observation with an explicitly political approach to the photographic essay.
Among his best-known publications are Algerien – L’Algérie (1960), documenting the Algerian struggle for independence, and Keine Experimente – Bilder zum Grundgesetz (1961), which juxtaposed photographs of postwar West Germany with articles from the German Basic Law. In 1966, Alvermann moved to East Berlin. Following the publication of Ich liebe Dich in 1979, he largely withdrew from photography and subsequently worked as a documentary filmmaker and writer. His photographs are held in collections including the Kunstbibliothek, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, and the Stadtmuseum Düsseldorf.
