Cylindrical, slightly waisted teapot, with a long curved spout and a removable circular lid. The vessel is completed by a mobile metal handle, attached to two pierced lugs on the shoulder and partly wrapped with a braided purple textile cord.
The porcelain is adorned with an abundant polychrome decoration characteristic of so-called Canton productions, executed in the famille rose palette. On a densely patterned background of scrolling foliage, flowers and ornamental reserves stand out in large cartouches alternating between scenes of figures indoors or on terraces and compositions of flowers and birds. Circular medallions populated with birds among the peonies also rhythm the composition.
The decoration combines pinks, greens, turquoise, blue, orange-red and yellow, highlighted by fine dark contours and gold details. The shoulder is divided into trapezoidal reserves alternately hosting figures and floral bouquets. The lid repeats the same decorative vocabulary, with a central floral composition surrounded by a border of flowers and foliage.
