Description from the seller
Caroni 20 Year Old Islay Cask Finish 10th Anniversary TBYWC is an exceptional rum that brings together Trinidadian tradition and the distinctive influence of Islay, the Scottish island renowned for its peated whiskies. This edition marks the tenth anniversary of the collaboration between Caroni’s master distillers and Islay’s craftspeople, resulting in a spirit of remarkable complexity.
Founded in 1918, the Caroni distillery in Trinidad and Tobago was long one of the Caribbean’s treasures. Known for producing heavy rum, it closed in 2002, leaving behind a prized legacy. This rum spent 20 years maturing in oak casks before being transferred to Islay casks for finishing.
On the nose, Caroni 20 Year Old offers rich notes of molasses and pear, with a subtle hint of Islay smoke. The palate ranges from caramel to sea salt, followed by a long finish with peaty and woody notes.
