AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The lens offered here is a very beautiful Belgian O.I.P Gand Miror f4.5/210mm lens in perfect working condition.

Lens serial number: 7220

The lens is designed and produced by the Ghent-based manufacturer O.I.P ( = Société Belge d'Optique et d'Instruments de Précision ) in the 1930s.

The optical formula line of the Miror lenses from this manufacturer was based on the well-known Tessar lens design.

The lens is suitable for large-format cameras with a format of 4x5 inches or 10x12.5 cm. The lens then behaves like a small telephoto or portrait lens. Comparable to about 65 to 70 mm on full-frame format.
Also for 5x7 inch (13x18 cm) cameras this lens can cover the format as well, but this depends on the exact diaphragm. (further stopping down increases the effective image circle) but the possibilities for 5x7 inch camera movements will then be rather minimal.

The lens is now mounted on a wooden lens board with dimensions of 13.7 x 13.4 cm. On the rear there is a black wooden inner plate of 13 x 12.2 cm mounted with a hole in the center of both plates of 62 mm in diameter.
If the new owner wants to use this lens on a different lens board, this is easily solved by loosening the four small metal wood screws and mounting the lens on another plate of choice.

The glass of the lens on both the front and rear is undamaged, has no scratches or cleaning marks, no fungus or haze. This lens can be perfectly used for any project.

The diaphragm adjusts very smoothly from f/4.5 stopless up to f/36.
Focusing also operates very smoothly without jamming or squeaking.

Today these wonderful optics are highly sought after and popular with portrait photographers who work with alternative processes such as Wet-Plate Collodion, due to the unique and shallow depth of field and distinctive bokeh of these lenses.

On the outside there are almost no cosmetic signs of use. See photos.

I have set a minimum price for this objective of €249 because I do not want to sell this beautiful lens for a few tens of euros.
The proverb says: “You get what you pay for.”
So if you’re interested in this lens, feel free to bid €249 (excluding shipping costs and Catawiki buyer fees) and acquire a beautiful Miror lens based on the Tessar design.

The lens will be packed and shipped in a very careful and sturdy manner with a Track & Trace number and insurance. The weight of the lens alone is 0.860 kg.

NOTA:

I always ship my goods with Track & Trace number and insurance due to possible damage and theft.
This shipping cost is more expensive and is imposed on us by Catawiki.
I always ship my goods using Catawiki’s Smart Shipping that was introduced to obtain cheaper shipping costs from various carriers. Everything happens automatically and I only receive a digital shipping label that I must print and affix to the package.
I also make use of a one-time fee of €10 that is added to the shipping costs. Included in this fee are the time I spend on packing, the packing box, the time I spend driving to and from the post office, and a contribution to fuel since my car does not run on water.
If you cannot agree with this, please do not place bids.
Thank you in advance.
