Chinese enamelled box in multicolour with floral and bird decorations – late 19th / early 20th century

Description

Elegant rectangular Chinese box with lid, finely decorated with multicolour enamels.

The lid features a refined composition with large pink peonies, green leaves and a small bird, enclosed within a deep blue border. The sides of the box are decorated with floral panels and birds, alternating with an elaborate blue background with vegetal scrolls and floral motifs.

The edges and frames are finished with gilded metallic elements, creating a pleasant contrast with the blue and the vivid colours of the enamels.

The decoration, with peonies, birds and vegetal motifs, is typical of Chinese decorative art and gives the object a particularly ornamental character.

The object shows a beautiful patina of time and signs of use and conservation consistent with its age. Some small imperfections and traces of surface wear are visible, as documented in the photographs.
