Jardinière - Cast iron

Beautiful antique jardinière made of (gilded) cast iron in the Louis XV/Rococo style. Originating from France and dating from the second half of the 19th century. The jardinière is characterized by graceful relief details, scrolls and feet.

Although the Louis XV/Rococo style originally dates from the mid-18th century, this design experienced a huge revival at the end of the 19th century. It was precisely during that period that industrial casting technique was perfected, enabling the production of heavy cast-iron decorative pieces. So too this jardinière.

The jardinière is about 23 cm wide, 12 cm deep and 12 cm high. The weight is just under 1600 grams.
