Tetartemorion (Silver, 5.5 mm, 0.23 g).
Obv: Forepart of a roaring lion to right, head turned back to left.
Rev: Bird standing left; pellets to lower left and upper right; all within incuse square.
Reference: SNG Kayhan 940-943.
Mylasa was one of the principal cities of ancient Caria in southwestern Anatolia, renowned for its sanctuaries and close association with the Carian rulers of the Hekatomnid dynasty. Before the rise of nearby Halikarnassos, it served as an important political and religious center. Mylasa prospered through agriculture and regional trade, issued its own coinage, and retained significance under Persian, Hellenistic and later Roman rule.
