Attica, Athens; a silver tetradrachm (AR) from circa 454–404 BC, 26.2 mm in diameter and 16.18 g, obverse with a helmeted head of Athena facing right, reverse with an owl standing right within an incuse square and the inscription ΑΘΕ.

Attica, Athens.
Ca. 454-404 BC.
Tetradrachm (Silver, 26.2 mm, 16.18 g).
Obv: Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette.
Rev: ΑΘΕ. Owl standing right, head facing, closed tail feathers; olive sprig and crescent to left; all within incuse square.
Reference: Hoover, Handbook of Coins of Northern and Central Greece, type 1597.
