Bronze cup or decorative bowl on a square base. All around in high relief decorated with songbirds among leaves and fruit. The contrast between the natural relief and the crisp carré socle fits the neoclassical vocabulary of the late 18th and early 19th century.
Heavy, thick-walled cast metal (top edge about 4 mm). Hollow foot with core hole. Once silvered; the silver layer is largely gone on the high points. In the depths and in the cup there is dark patina and light oxidation. No maker’s mark.
