Pontiac Bloc Métal 41 – 6x9 folding camera with an Anastigmat 105mm f/4.5, physically good and tested and working.
Description from the seller
This is a Pontiac Bloc Métal 41 (BM 41), an interesting French 6×9 folding camera from the war years / early postwar period. The combination of the metal body, the characteristic front, the Pontiac shutter and the 105 mm lens lines up well with documented BM 41 variants.
French Pontiac Bloc Métal 41, a classic medium format folding camera manufactured by M.F.A.P. (Manufacture Française d'Appareils Photographiques), Paris.
This fully metal folding camera was introduced around 1941 and used 120 roll film for large 6×9 cm negatives. The BM 41 was produced in several variants including Pontiac, Berthiot, Boyer and Roussel lenses.
The depicted specimen has an Anastigmat 1:4.5 / 105 mm lens and a Pontiac Paris central shutter with among others 1/25, 1/50, 1/100 and 1/150 sec. The characteristic collapsible viewfinder is present.
The camera opens and closes and the bellows can be fully extended.
Offered in the condition as shown.
Fun fact:
The name “Bloc Métal 41” refers to the metal construction and the design year 1941. The body was made from an aluminum alloy. During the war and shortly after, materials were scarce, which partly explains why different lens, shutter and bellows variants of this model exist.
