Roman bronze handle with hanging terminals, from Antigua Roma, Imperio, measuring 55 × 78 × 12 mm and dating to the 1st–3rd century AD, acquired in 1970 from Spain, in good condition and authentic original.
Description from the seller
A Roman bronze handle/applique with hanging finials
Roman period, circa 1st–3rd centuries AD
Ornamental element made in cast bronze, with a curved body and a robust section, ends raised and finished with small, cylindrical, globular-profile hanging elements. The composition is symmetric and presents a sober execution, probably related to a handle, applique or furniture accessory, vessel or suspension element.
The surface preserves a dark green archaeological patina, with brown areas, wear, concretions and surface oxidation coherent with great age. The terminal finials and the main curve are legible and well preserved.
Material: bronze/copper alloy.
Chronology: Roman period, probably 1st–3rd centuries AD.
Dimensions: 55 × 78 × 12 mm.
Conservation status: good for its age, with patina, erosion and surface deposits; no major structural losses visible.
