Belgium - Army/Infantry - Document - Lettre signé Louis XIV [secrétaire] 1679 pour une Commision de Lieutenant (Régiment Polastron) - 1679

Superb military document concerning the appointment of Dubarail as Lieutenant in the Polastron Regiment, given by Mr. de Montchauraul (or Montchenu), but drafted in manuscript by Jean Denis de Polastron (1642-1706), the oldest and the very first to have been part of the Polastron Regiment (+ signed by Louis XIV (secretary's signature))

I quote:
"Mr. de Montchauraul having given to Dubarail the charge of Lieutenant at the Company of Polastron in my Infantry Regiment that you command, vacant by the promotion of Banquier in our company. I am making this letter to tell you that you are to receive and establish him in the said charge and make others believe with zeal of all those and as it shall belong, in the present being for no other end, I pray God that he have you Monsieur de Montchauraul in his holy guard,
Written at Saint-Germain-en-Laye the 17 December 1679

According to the Genealogy of the Polastron family, which is a now-extinct French noble family, originally from Languedoc, the first to have served in this regiment is Jean Denis de Polastron (1642-1706) but others also served as lieutenants or officers in the 17th century such as the Count of Polastron or the Duke of Chaulnes)
This Regiment continued until the Ancien Régime
