AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Traditional Tibetan thangka, hand-painted with care and precision. The work depicts Amitayus, the Buddha of Long Life, seated in meditation (Dhyanasana) on a lotus throne. He wears richly decorated robes and jewels, with the hands joined in the lap in the Dhyana Mudra.
Amitayus is surrounded by an aura of multicolored light and whirling clouds. Above him, there are figures of Shakyamuni Buddha and Dipankara Buddha. At the bottom, divine figures are depicted, including an incarnation of Padmasambhava, a blue Buddha (probably Akshobhya or Bhaiṣajyaguru), and an iraconda deity with a blazing torch.

Provenance: Tibet / Himalayan region (traditional Tibetan-Himalayan style). The iconographic subjects, the arrangement of the secondary deities, and the use of pigments on a textile/cotton support directly trace back to the Tibetan Buddhist painting school.
Estimated dating: Second half of the 20th century (circa 1950 - 1980).
