Portadora de agua is a bronze sculpture from Italy, cast by lost-wax technique, signed, 17 cm high including a black stone base, with a green‑blue patina and intended as a decorative work inspired by classical antiquity.
Description from the seller
Size 17 cm in height including the marble base.
Small bronze sculpture titled “Water Carrier” / Portadora de agua, made in Italy using lost-wax casting. The figure represents a young woman with a classical or archaeologizing inspiration, dressed in a short tunic and carrying a water vessel, while holding a vertical rod with the arm raised.
The piece draws inspiration from antiquity figurines and from small Greco-Roman votive or decorative sculptures. The modeling of the tunic, the figure’s pose, and the greenish-blue patina give the set an archaeologic charm, although it is offered as a modern decorative creation inspired by ancient themes rather than as an archaeological antiquity.
It has been cast using the lost-wax technique, a traditional bronze sculpture method that starts from a wax model covered by a refractory mold; after melting and evacuating the wax, the liquid metal is poured into the created cavity. This technique allows detailed reproduction of folds, hair, objects, and surface textures.
The sculpture stands about 15 cm tall and is set on a square black stone base, which enhances the greenish patina of the bronze and allows immediate display. This piece is produced in the heart of Italy, just a stone’s throw from Rome. Lost-wax casting is the method used since Antiquity for creating bronze statues. The perfect gift for history lovers, to enrich and expand a collection of classical monuments signed and made in Italy.
Condition: good overall condition, with a greenish-blue patina, small color variations, slight nicks and surface handling marks in keeping with bronze and the presentation. The base shows light wear marks. The photographs are an essential part of the description and should be examined carefully before bidding.
Suitable for collectors of decorative bronze, art with classical inspiration, archaeologizing figures, and display or library cabinets.
