Rare mid‑century Philips illuminated countertop display or decorative table lamp from the 1950s–60s, with a black mirrored glass front, a hammered grey/silver metal frame and two E14 sockets, in good used condition with minor wear and age-related marks, measuring 13.7 cm in height, 28 cm wide and 8 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Rare and evocative vintage illuminated countertop advertising display (or decorative table lamp) from the 1950s/1960s, original signed Philips. The sign is made with a black mirrored glass front panel with backlit graphics, mounted on a solid angled metal frame with a hammered gray/silver finish.
Graphics and Design
- Front: The glass panel bears the classic Philips logo ("Philips lamps of quality") and the iconic shield with waves and stars. The graphic realistically depicts a fluorescent tube and an incandescent bulb, historical symbols of the brand's lighting.
- Backlighting: When lit, the light filters through the transparent/colored details of the graphic on the black glass, creating an excellent vintage visual effect.
- Era: Circa the 1950s/1960s.
- Materials: Hammered sheet metal back/box structure, front panel in silkscreened mirrored glass.
- Electric System: Original internal assembly featuring two lamp holders with small/medium screw bases (E14) in brass, original vintage two-core cord with an old two-prong plug.
Conservation Conditions
- Front Glass: In overall excellent condition, retains shine and colors. Shows light signs of aging and very small chips/missing protective paint along the upper and lower perimeter edges, consistent with the age and use.
- Metal Structure: Solid, with no bends or structural damage, with the original patina of the time on the hammered finish.
- Electricity: Cord and plug in visually good condition (a review of the wiring is advised before use).
