Description from the seller
IN RISALTO:
• Rare Fiat 600 "Rendez Vous" coachbuilt by Vignale on design by Giovanni Michelotti
• One of only 16-20 examples produced worldwide between 1955 and 1959
• Retains original black plates and period documents from its first Italian registration
• Advanced total restoration plan (60-70% completed) including sandblasted body shell, reconstructed floors and longitudinals
• 99% complete with all original components, including glass, engine and finishes; disassembled and cataloged
STORY/PANORAMA:
The Fiat 600 "Rendez Vous," built by Carrozzeria Vignale to a design by Giovanni Michelotti between 1955 and 1959, represents one of the rarest and most elegant coachbuilt models on the famous 600 platform. Characterized by a coupé line inspired by the designs of the Lancia Aurelia B20/B52 and Fiat 8V signed by the same Michelotti, it was produced in a very limited run estimated at about 16-20 units destined for a wealthy and refined clientele. This 1957 example was found in Italy, retaining its documents and original period plates. About nine years ago, a significant professional restoration project was started, bringing the work to roughly 60-70% completion. It is currently offered as a project to complete, 99% complete with all original parts carefully cataloged and stored in boxes.
BODY/PAINT ->
The coachwork underwent an initial phase of structural restoration and sheet metal work carried out by master craftsmen: full disassembly, complete sandblasting, application of two layers of epoxy primer, jigging with welding of the mounting bosses, total reconstruction of the longitudinals in accordance with the original, installation of new floors, reconstruction of the under-door trim and the lower part of the nose. Subsequently, an initial puttying was performed, applying two layers of white acrylic primer. All sheet metal has been welded to an excellent workmanship point. All glass (windscreen, rear window, side windows) and external sheets (doors and bonnets) are present. The car rides on original period wheels, Borrani/Mille Miglia, with new period tires.
INTERIORS:
The interiors are present and preserved but require complete restoration/refitting. The upholstery, panels, dashboard and interior finishes have been removed, cataloged and stored separately to allow subsequent assembly and reupholstery.
MECHANICS:
The original mechanical components include the period Fiat 600 engine and the transmission/suspension assembly. The front and rear suspension arms have been sandblasted and protected with two layers of black epoxy primer. All removed mechanical components are preserved and require overhaul and final reassembly.
DOCUMENTS:
The car will be supplied with the original Italian registration documents from the period and its original first-registration black plates.
The car is viewable and can be collected in Viareggio, Italy.

Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion.
