5 Napoléon III Francs – 1870 A – Paris
French 5 franc silver coin, minted in 1870 under the Second Empire, bearing the effigy of Napoleon III with laurel crown.
Obverse: portrait of Napoleon III turned to the left, wearing a laurel crown. Inscription “NAPOLEON III EMPEROR”. Engraver's signature BARRE below the portrait.
Reverse: crowned French imperial coat of arms, surrounded by the Legion of Honour collar, with a crossed sceptre and the hand of justice. Inscription “EMPIRE FRANÇAIS”, denomination 5 F and mint year 1870.
Mint: Atelier A – Paris.
