About Nigersaurus taqueti

Nigersaurus taqueti lived during the Middle Cretaceous, approximately 115–105 million years ago, in what is now the Republic of Niger in Africa.

Unlike most sauropods, Nigersaurus evolved an exceptionally specialized skull perfectly adapted for grazing on low-growing vegetation. Its broad, squared muzzle functioned almost like a prehistoric lawnmower, allowing it to crop plants close to the ground with remarkable efficiency.

Its most extraordinary feature was its incredible dental battery. Nigersaurus holds the record for the greatest number of teeth of any known dinosaur, with up to 500 teeth present and continuously replaced throughout its lifetime. New teeth formed beneath the active ones, ensuring a constant supply despite heavy wear from feeding.

Although reaching around 9 meters (30 ft) in length, Nigersaurus was a relatively lightweight sauropod.
