During the conflict, the old naval pieces that equipped the great fighting ships (defense against torpedo boats) in the 1880s–1890s left the arsenals mounted on a chandelier-type mounting (of various models). Rapidly deployed in anti-aircraft defense, the mountings are of a very wide variety and are carried out in the parks or workshops at the front. More standardized models were also built in the arsenals to serve mainly in fortifications as anti-aircraft Flak pieces.
The 37mm caliber was also very effective against machine-gun nests.
