Description from the seller
Grand Francine dinner service, Badonviller Faience Works, early 20th century
Description:
A very complete faience dinner service from the famous French manufacturer Badonviller, the iconic Francine pattern. Dating from the early 20th century (circa 1900-1905), this service perfectly embodies the rustic-chic charm of the Belle Époque with its delicate pastoral design of blue cornflower bouquets and green foliage, highlighted by fine blue borders.
Each piece bears the factory authenticity seal; the letter "F" in the center of these stamps refers to Théophile Fenal, director of the manufacture.
Set composition (52 pieces):
32 flat plates (diameter: 22.5 cm)
11 soup plates (diameter: 22 cm)
1 large circular platter (diameter: 31.5 cm)
1 circular platter (diameter: 26.5 cm)
1 large tureen with lid (30.5 x 15 cm)
1 large oval platter (37.5 x 27 cm)
2 cruets (22 x 15 cm)
1 hollow dish (diameter: 26.5 cm)
2 small hollow dishes (diameter: 25 cm)
Condition:
The set is in very good condition, showing careful use over the decades.
Note: Some plates show very small enamel flakes on the outer rim (invisible during use on the drinking edge).
The tureen also has a few small enamel flakes on the rims (see photos).
Aside from these minor signs of wear, the glaze and the vivid floral motif are impeccable.
