Muhammad Aurangzeb was, as the son of Shah Jahan and his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Grand Mughal of India from his seizure of power on July 31, 1658 until his death in 1707.
Aurangzeb bore the honorific name “Alamgir” – World-Conqueror.
