Zeiss Ikon Icarette Model 551/2 folding medium‑format camera in good vintage condition, with the Carl Zeiss Tessar 1:4.5 f=105 mm lens, tested and functioning.
Description from the seller
In this auction, a classic, robust and fascinating mid-format folding camera: the Zeiss Ikon Icarette (Model 551/2), produced in Germany by Zeiss Ikon in Dresden between the late 1920s and the early 1930s.
The lot presents in generally good vintage condition, with normal signs of use and storage perfectly coherent with the age of the object, and is complete with its original optical block mounted on an extendable rail.
Optics: The camera mounts the extraordinary and renowned original Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 1:4.5 f=10.5 cm. The lenses show no deep scratches or traces of mold and internal fungi; only a normal, widespread and light patina with minimal vintage signs due to the decades elapsed, entirely normal for a piece of this age, which do not undermine its historical depth and collectible charm.
Mechanical: The lot appears mechanically functional. The central mechanical shutter Friedrich Deckel Compur responds to manual commands, clicking at the various speeds set on the upper dial. The front panel unlatches correctly and the system of metal linkages allows the extension of the bellows along the steel rails up to the working position.
Aesthetics: Good general vintage condition, as clearly documented by the photographs. The outer shell preserves its original black leatherette covering bearing embossed on the upper front the unmistakable model name "Icarette". It shows the classic signs of time and superficial handling, with very light scratches along the outer metal profiles. The horizontal-fold bellows in dark material maintain good structural and geometric integrity.
Tracked international shipping, fully insured and professional super-protective packaging to guarantee maximum safety during transport.
