Description from the seller
Ancient Egyptian Amulet beads necklace
Shipping: European Union only.
An elegant handcrafted necklace composed exclusively of authentic ancient Egyptian beads, combining a Pataikos amulet with tubular and ring-shaped faience beads in varying shades of blue-green, turquoise, pale green, beige and brown. The beads display the natural variation in colour, form and surface that gives ancient Egyptian faience its distinctive character.
At the centre, the small blue-green Pataikos amulet provides a distinctive focal point. The frontal figure of Pataikos is shown standing, with the compact form and protective character associated with this type of Egyptian amulet. Surrounded by the ancient faience beads, the figure creates a natural connection between personal adornment and the protective imagery of ancient Egyptian culture.
The characteristic blue and green tones of Egyptian faience were closely associated with life, regeneration and renewal. These associations were closely connected with the fertile waters of the Nile, vegetation and the renewal of the living world, extending naturally into the Egyptian understanding of existence beyond death.
The Pataikos figure belongs to this same world of protective imagery. Small Pataikos amulets were associated with protection and magical safeguarding, bringing these ideas into close personal contact with the wearer. Here, the blue-green figure among the surrounding faience beads brings together protection, regeneration and the enduring Egyptian concern with preserving life.
In this composition, colour, personal adornment and protective symbolism remain closely connected, allowing the ancient components to retain their individual historical character while forming a coherent contemporary necklace.
