Elegant Art Nouveau bronze female bust – Belgium, circa 1890-1910 - attributed and signed Jef Lambeaux (1852-1908)
Rare and elegant bronze female bust with a brown-gold patina, attributed to the famous Belgian sculptor Jef Lambeaux (1852-1908), a major figure in Belgian sculpture at the end of the 19th century.
This work depicts a young woman with a turned gaze, abundant, flowing hair, in a typically Art Nouveau style where movement, sensuality and naturalism are characteristic of Lambeaux's work.
The bust rests on an elegant stepped architectural plinth and features a beautiful old patina, homogeneous, highlighting the quality of the casting and modeling.
The back is signed “Jef Lambeaux”.

Joseph “Jef” Lambeaux (1852-1908) is considered one of the most important Belgian sculptors of his time. Notably the author of the famous Human Passions in the Cinquantenaire Park in Brussels and the Brabo Fountain in Antwerp, he is renowned for his expressive compositions and female busts imbued with realism and elegance.
