RARE DOUBLE FIGURE - Songye - DR Congo

A Songye double figure is a rare wooden power figure (nkishi) of the Songye people from the Democratic Republic of Congo, characterized by two heads on one body to symbolize double protective and magical power, twice as powerful as single figures.
They display the classical Songye features such as a strong, frontal stance, geometric shapes, and sometimes (as with this one) influences from the well-known Kifwebe masks.
Previously this object was in the collection of Alain Bruno, a collector from France.
Now in my personal Dutch collection.

Materials: wood, beads, reptile skin, horns and pigment.
Minor flaws due to age and use.
