Set of four mid-century modern hardwood chairs from the United States with a honey amber finish, carved faux bamboo detailing, an X-shaped back and turquoise upholstery.
Description from the seller
Elegant mid-20th-century chairs, with a pronounced Chinoiserie and Chinese Chippendale influence, crafted in solid wood carved and turned to imitate bamboo (faux bamboo).
They stand out for their distinctive architectural-line structure and the elaborate cross-shaped geometric backrest, integrated within a rounded-section wooden frame that reproduces the characteristic bamboo nodes. The top of the backrest features three delicate longitudinal grooves, while the rear joints are reinforced with triangular wooden braces, adding both structural solidity and ornamental interest.
The structure retains an attractive honey-golden/amber finish, with a warm patina typical of mid-20th-century furniture. The set is completed with seats upholstered in a deep turquoise/aqua tone, bordered in green, mounted on a traditional textile strap framework.
This is a representative example of Western mid-20th-century taste for reinterpretations of Eastern architecture and furniture elements, especially bamboo, through carpentry and carving techniques. Its distinctive combination of faux bamboo, Chinese Chippendale geometry, X-shaped backrest, and carved woodworking details gives it a notably striking decorative personality.
