This hand-knotted Kashmiri silk rug from India features a particularly finely elaborated floral medallion design. In the center of the light inner field is a large, multi-tier central medallion in turquoise, pale pink, cream and various shades of brown.

The entire inner field is densely filled with symmetrically arranged blossoms, palmettes, leaves and scrolling tendrils. Generously designed corner ornaments echo the patterning of the central medallion, creating a harmonious and balanced composition.

A broad dark main border with regularly arranged rosettes and floral ornaments, as well as several fine secondary borders, frame the inner field in contrasting fashion. Cream, turquoise, pale pink, black, brown and muted greens define the elegant color palette.

The delicate silk pile produces a subtle sheen depending on the light and beautifully highlights the numerous details of the pattern. The rug has been cleaned and, due to its generous size, is excellently suited for living and dining rooms, bedrooms or as a prestigious centerpiece of a room.
